GENDER GAP: The women of Global Art Project

GENDER GAP : The Women of GLOBAL ART PROJECT
Gallerie Renee Marie
In GENDER GAP we turn to the women...
I personally feel that some of the same forces that contribute to women acting as supreme creators engaged in the process of culture building, of making things of beauty, comfort or sustenance have also contributed to a sort of ghettoization of those efforts, demeaning and limiting the recognition of these contributions, both historical and contemporary, obscuring significant advances in the arts as well as the culture in general.

A similar deconstruction, misreading and appropriation of reality is experienced traditionally by "minority" cultures as their / our contributions are regulated secondary while simultaneously the fruits of these creative endeavors nurture the culture and human kind as a whole.

Having stated this premise based on a similarity of experience or simple empathy, it would nonetheless be presumptuous of me to dictate what fixes, addresses or resolves these inequities. Giving energy to the "problem" , in some cases, only legitimizes it and sets up two camps at odds as opposed to engaging in a personal evolution of consciousness or perception, which is the path I have chosen, in the issue of not only Gender, but also Race, National Identity, Political Rivalry even Schools of Art Practice.
