Rotterdam Photo Festival is an annual photo manifestation that takes place during Art Rotterdam Week, where art lovers will have the opportunity to visit numerous art and design events. Located at Deliplein (Katendrecht district), Rotterdam Photo celebrates the wide spectrum of photography as it presents itself in our contemporary image culture. Together with the exhibitions at the Nederlands Fotomuseum and the fine art photography fair Haute
Photographie, the 'Kop van Zuid' will transform into the one-stop hub for photography fans from February 6th-9th, 2020.
Rotterdam Photo's theme of the year 2020 is TRANSITIONS.
For exhibiting Hungarian artist László Gálos will be performing “Collodion-transitions” during the launch of the festival.
With this performance, the artist aims to make it clear how fragile and illusory the relationship between the created artwork as a worldview, and the feelings, thoughts and gestures that it contains, even if it is considered to be primarily documentary. In addition, the performance studies how works of art influence our perception of life and of reality - not only in their finalized, polished state, but also during and throughout their creation process."
As one of the selected participants this year, he will also be showing his project “Collodion-archive”:

Chaos Condensed is a loose collective of writers, musicians, programmers, poets, sorcerers, clowns, designers and tricksters who happened to record a spoken word CD as one of the possible means to express some of the ideas developed by the group's investigations, debate and cross-discipline collaborations. Defining "Chaos" as the "Tabula Rasa" state where nothing is fixed and every option is possible and "The Machine" as the attitude which locks beliefs into dogmas that are not to be discussed or reinterpreted, Chaos Condensed try to express a system of thought which challenges every assumed notion of what things "are" or are "supposed" to be.
Some of the influences named by the collective are Austin Osman Spare, Phil Hine, Pete Carroll, Hakim Bey, Robert Anton Wilson, Situationism, Surrealism, Chaos Magick and Discordianism, Alan Moore, Grant Morrison, Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, William Burroughs, Yorgos Sefferis, Edmond Jabés, Jacques Derrida, Gilles Deleuze, Paul Auster, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Fravia+, Noam Chomsky, Jello Biafra and lots of penguins.

Mnemonists is a collective of avantgarde musicians from Colorado, lead by Mark Debyshir and Bill Sharp. Their music is a crazy mixture of modern classical, experimental sounds, noise, industrial, avantgarde and free jazz. Their releases were published by their own self-produced label Dys between 1981 and 1986. In 1987 the group changed its name into Biota.

This Colorado collective began in the early '80s under the name of the Mnemonists. A music and visual art collective, their first album Hoard is regarded as a classic of experimental music and was reissued by Recommended Records on CD in 1999. Changing their moniker to Biota sometime in the '80s, this signified a change in direction that would see them produce some of the most stunning electro-acoustic music that draws upon folk, rock, and tape music in an incomparable manner. They are often compared to Faust, in that they use the studio to construct their compositions out of acoustic instruments and have no fear of letting the tape machines become instruments in their own right. Recommended also issued this CD, which brings two of their self-released LPs to the digital format. This music really sounds like nothing prior to it, it is a unique marriage of ideas and approaches that on paper appear like a mismatch. Yet when listening to this enthralling and complex music, one can very easily become entranced in its alien sound world. Not entirely abstract, the music has its roots in American tradition and takes in folk and country music in a skewed manner, like Captain Beefheart, Harry Partch, and John Cage all in the same studio. Progressive rock, in a very literal sense of the term, it is no surprise that Chris Cutler was the first to recognize the group and subsequently become a member. At times, they do recall his group Henry Cow in that they are adventurous, bringing jazz, classical, progressive, folk, and 20th century classical into their range of influences. However, the style is unique and unparalleled. Later, groups such as Gastr Del Sol approached similar territory, as has British sampling composer John Wall. This CD collection finds Biota on more abstract ground than their later work, which is similar to the Pentangle, if they existed in Philip K. Dick's universe that is.
